Renovation Transformations

Over the past year that we have lived in Iowa, our house has been transforming. When we got here, it hadn't been lived in for over a year and it was stuck in the seventies. It has taken lots of love and labor to make this house what it is today and we're still working! Here are just a few of the transformation pictures. Read to the end for an update on current projects.

Original listing picture of the kitchen.

One year later.
We still hope to replace the yellow countertops and the sink but those are future projects.

Should we play the game, spot the differences? 😂

The living room.

This was taken just a few days before we added a ceiling fan. There were NO ceiling fans in the whole house and it made for a pretty miserable summer last year. We have gotten three put up recently including in the living room. Bring it on, summer!

Can you guess what was the first thing to go?....Yep, the gold toilet.

Eventually the green marble countertop and green shower will be replaced. Not an urgent need so just a want for the future.

Gabrielle's room.

Rebecca's room.

Have you noticed the low hanging lights disappearing in every picture? Those were some of the very first changes, even before our furniture arrived! We just got them moved to the center of the room to prepare for ceiling fans. Every bedroom's only light was in the corner by the closet. You wouldn't believe the difference it makes bringing the light to the middle of the ceiling. So much brighter!

The laundry room. This large built in desk made this space very cramped. It was the first demolition project.

Get ready for the biggest transformation yet...the theater room.

Can you believe this is the same space?!
These are just a few (believe it or not) of the changes that have taken place over the last year of renovating our fixer upper. Getting rid of drop ceiling that had a mouse dropping infestation, stained carpet in bathrooms, paneling galore, green and yellow EVERYTHING (including mint green carpet), and a lot more. Right now the rest of the basement is getting new insulation and drywall and the trophy cabinet has been removed. The machine shed has been MAJORLY upgraded and will get its own blog post soon. As the weather warms up, there's sure to be a lot more going on so stay tuned!
